ARTIST STATEMENT

The purpose of these pieces is to explore how to embody an emotion, idea or convey a message strictly using the female anatomy. This series of air-dry clay figurines is inspired by the Venus of Willendorf and artists’works such as Kiki Smith, Kukuli Velarde, Georgia O'Keefe and Kara Walker. The figurines are constructed faceless to put emphasis on their body language.
